LUDOX® AS-30
LUDOX® AS-30 is an ammonium-stabilized alkaline dispersion of amorphous silica. This colloidal silica is typically used as a binder in catalyst and high-temperature ceramic applications and as a cobinder and surface modifier in paints and coatings.
LUDOX® AS-30 is a 30% active, alkaline colloidal silica with a particle size of 12 nm. The silica particles are stabilized with ammonium hydroxide, making it ideal for several applications where the presence of sodium ions from other LUDOX® grades cannot be tolerated.
LUDOX® AS-30 is an excellent binder and silica source for inorganic catalysts such as zeolites, where it minimizes the introduction of sodium content and increases chemical and thermal stability. It is also commonly used to improve the strength and durability of ceramics, refractory, and other inorganic materials, where resistance to thermal and mechanical shock is important.
LUDOX® AS-30 may increase durability in several latex-based adhesives and coatings. In adhesives, LUDOX® AS-30 will increase cohesive and shear strength. In coatings, it will improve resistance to abrasion, dirt pickup, and blocking.
