Elvacite™ BR-106

Elvacite™ BR-106 is a general-purpose, solid-bead acrylic resin with relatively low molecular weight. It is soluble in a variety of solvents, including ketones, esters, and aromatic hydrocarbons, where it facilitates fast solvent release. Elvacite™ BR-106 is an excellent film former, creating films for inks and coatings with high durability, gloss, clarity, toughness, and resistance to weathering and yellowing. Solutions made with Elvacite™ BR-106 dissolve in solvents faster than many other acrylics at 50% total solids. As a low–molecular weight resin, Elvacite™ BR-106 imparts low viscosity to formulations, creating films with an effective balance of flexibility and toughness. This resin also has low reactivity for pigments and can be used for creating topcoats and pigmented coatings. An example application where Elvacite™ BR-106 is used includes concrete coatings, where the mix of flexibility and toughness imparts longevity and durability under the natural contraction and expansion of concrete. It is also used in traffic paint, where the combination of toughness and adhesion improves durability and longevity.
