UCON™ LB-550-X is an ISO 460/680 polypropylene glycol fluid designed for high-temperature applications.
UCON™ LB-550-X is a high-performance lubricant manufactured from an alcohol-started base stock featuring oxypropylene groups (m=0) with one terminal hydroxyl group. The UCON™ LB-550-X is water insoluble and has a viscosity of 550 cSt at 100°F. UCON™ LB-550-X is particularly well suited for high-temperature operation where traditional lubricants are prone to degrade and fail.
Similar to other UCON™ LB products, the UCON™ LB-550-X is a lubricant formulated with an antioxidant for improved stability and broad-temperature performance. The UCON™ LB-550-X is a phenomenal choice for any application that requires enhanced oxidative stability. This polyalkylene glycol–formulated fluid features excellent lubricity, high viscosity indices, low pour points, and strong stability across a variety of applications. UCON™ LB-550-X applications can range from hydraulic fluids to quenchants and as a lubricant, from gears and bearings to compressors.

UCON™ LB-550-X is commonly used as a lubricating fluid for industrial applications requiring enhanced oxidation stability at high temperatures.
It is important to note that improvements from utilizing this lubricant result from high-temperature antioxidants in the fluid. Over time, the antioxidant will deplete as it reacts with oxygen. As the antioxidants become depleted, UCON™ LB-550-X will be no more stable than uninhibited UCON™ LB fluids. The color of the UCON™ LB-550-X will become dark brown without the complete loss of antioxidant effectiveness.
