Elvacite® 2016 is a general-purpose solid-bead acrylic copolymer that is fast dissolving and used as a starting point resin in many formulations. It is very effective as a binder in clear, translucent, or pigmented metal lacquers and inks. Elvacite® 2016 resin provides superior transparency, high gloss, excellent hardness, and great resistance to chemical attack, weathering, and UV discoloration. It has good solubility in ketones, esters, and aromatics. 

As a low–molecular weight acrylic copolymer resin, Elvacite® 2016 offers low viscosity to formulations and maintains good flexibility, toughness, and adhesion in formed films. Elvacite® 2016 resin also allows for faster solvent release from films. Elvacite® 2016 is preferred in concrete coatings, where the low molecular weight of the methacrylate copolymer provides the flexibility required to maintain coverage under contraction and expansion. When used in traffic paint applications, Elvacite® 2016 performs well due to a combination of toughness and adhesion that improves longevity. 

Elvacite® 2016 resin is generally soluble in toluene, esters, ketones, chlorinated hydrocarbons, glycol ethers and their esters, and high–flash point aromatics.
