POLYOX™ WSR 308 is a non-ionic, water soluble poly(ethylene oxide) polymer with a molecular weight of 8,000,000. POLYOX™ WSR 308 adsorbs onto silica and clay and work well as flocculating agents in mining and water treatment applications. POLYOX™ WSR 308 also shows a high affinity for pulp, pitch, and fillers making it an ideal retention aid for paper making applications. Solutions of POLYOX™ WSR 308 has a high degree of wet tack when in solution but will form a film with little to no tack. For this reason it is an effective resin for improving tack of water-based adhesives.
Water-soluble High binding efficiency Crosslinkable Viscoelastic Thermoplastic Low toxicity Nonionic Available in 140 lb drums and 960 lb bags Wet Tack Affinity for colloidal contaminants
Problems Solved
Silica and clay contamination of wastewater Insufficient wet tack of paper adhesives Pulp and pitch contamination in wastewater of papermaking operations Poor retention of pulp and fillers in papermaking Poor flocculation due to ionic charge
Applications
Flocculant; Mining suspensions; Paper Making; Water-based adhesives
