LAMAL™ 408-40 is a polyether urethane in denatured alcohol. It is used in combination with LAMAL™ C or LAMAL CR-1-80 as the urethane component of a two part adhesive system for flexible packaging. The mix ratio varies based on application but it typically in the range of 7.5-9.5 parts coreactant to 100 parts adhesive. The LAMAL™ 408-40 adhesive system exhibits excellent adhesion to common packaging films including polyethylene, polypropylene, PET, paper, cellophane, and PVC. LAMAL™ 408-40 is unique in that unlike other polyurethane adhesives, it is unaffected by alcohol or small amounts of water. This makes it ideally suited for packaging applications that need to withstand high humidity environments. LAMAL™ 408-40 is most commonly used in laminations for cosmetic packaging, snack food packaging, meat packaging, and shrink labels. It provides great clarity, fast bond development, high shear strength, and it can be slit in 12-24 hours post processing.
