Viton™ GAL-200S
Viton™ GAL-200S is a fluoroelastomer gum with 66% fluorine content. It is excellent for lubricating oils and automotive applications when high resistance is required.
Viton™ GAL-200S is a fluoroelastomer gum that is manufactured using Advanced Polymer Architecture (APA) technology. Viton™ GAL-200S has 66% fluorine content and is composed of hexafluoropropylene (HFP), vinylidene fluoride (VF₂) and tetrafluoroethylene (TFE) with a peroxide cure site.
Viton™ GAL-200S offers excellent resistance to automotive lubricating oils and aqueous fluids. It also provides improved performance in low-temperature applications compared to bisphenol-cured copolymers. Viton™ GAL-200S can be injection, transfer, or compression molded.
Specifications
Physical Form: Sheet Appearance: White to tan Odor: None Mooney Viscosity, ML1 + 10 at 121 °C (250 °F): 25 Specific Gravity: 1.79 Storage Stability: Excellent
Primary Chemistry: Copolymer of hexafluoropropylene, vinylidene fluoride, and tetrafluoroethylene with a cure site monomer
Features & Benefits
Peroxide curable and very fast cure rate Improved low-temperature resistance compared to bisphenol cures Excellent resistance to water, steam, and coolants Superior mold release properties and fouling resistance Excellent physical properties with high elongation Improved compression set resistance with both low and no post-cure
Problems Solved
Slow cure rate and compatibility of fluoroelastomers with peroxide curing agents Limited or low-temperature resistance of bisphenol cured fluoroelastomers
Applications
High resistance parts for the automotive and transportation industry Engine crank and camshaft seals Valve stem and cover seals Turbocharger hoses and fuel injector O-rings Air intake manifold gaskets Gaskets, O-rings, and membranes Molded parts that require low temperature flexibility
Viton™ fluoroelastomers are ideal for use in food and pharma applications. Viton™ APA polymers combine the superior resistance to steam, commercial cleaning fluids, and many other chemicals compared to EPDM and traditional silicones
