CELLOSIZE™ QP-30000H is a non-ionic and water soluble hydroxyethyl cellulose polymer. It is primarily used as thickener in various applications including cleaners, drilling fluids, inks, coatings, and adhesives. CELLOSIZE™ QP-30000H has a high molecular weight and will produce solutions with a much more consistent viscosity when compared to other common hydrocolloids like guar and xantham gum due to the tightly controlled specifications. CELLOSIZE™ QP-30000H hydroxyethylcellulose was designed to be used as a thickener in water-based formulations where water soluble solids need to be kept to a minimum. It provides as viscosity of 1500-2400 cps when added at 1% to water. This allows paints and adhesives thickened with CELLOSIZE™ QP-30000H to remain water resistant once cured.
In addition, adhesives thickened with CELLOSIZE™ QP-30000H are highly thixotropic and can be applied easily while retaining good sag resistance and cling to vertical surfaces. CELLOSIZE™ QP-30000H hydroxyethylcellulose is surface treated to delay hydration and allow for the polymer to be completely dispersed prior to hydrating. It is common for hydration to be "kicked-off" once the polymer is dispersed by increasing the temperature or pH of the dispersion.
