Solus™ 6959, a cellulose-based polymer manufactured by Eastman, is used to formulate release coatings that transfer a layer of metal to paper packaging. This technique, known as transfer metallized packaging (TMP), produces paper packaging with reflective or holographic appearances. Solus™ 6959 contains over 40% bio content and reduces the need for films in the transfer process, making it an ideal choice for sustainable packaging. It shortens dry-to-touch times, provides excellent block resistance, and forms tough films in release coatings. Solus™ 6959 is soluble in various organic solvents. Release coatings made with Solus™ 6959 are printable with UV-curable inks and overprint varnishes, eliminating the need for a primer.
