CAB-321-0.1 is a low molecular weight mixed cellulose ester with moderate butyrate content. It is used as a film former, resin modifier, and additive in solvent-based coatings.
CAB-321-0.1 is a cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB) with a moderate butyrate content and low molecular weight which in turn lends to low solution viscosity. CAB-321-0.1 has better solvent compatibility than lower butyrate CABs providing formulators with more solvent options, and films formed with CAB-321-0.1 will also have better flexibility than films formed with cellulose acetate or lower butyrate content CABs. Coatings containing CAB-321-0.1 have excellent flow and leveling leading to fewer surface defects and higher gloss. Additionally, CAB-321-0.1 has superior UV stability and heat resistance when compared to nitrocellulose making CAB-321-0.1 an idea resin for challenging coating applications.
