Solus™ 9142 is a cellulose ester additive typically used in adhesive formulations to modify performance properties. It helps form clear films that resist yellowing and shrinkage and have excellent UV stability and great coverage on low–surface energy substrates, owing to flow and leveling improvements. Relative to other Solus™ grades, Solus™ 9142 has a low Tg. It helps improve antiblocking properties, reducing adhesion in formulations. While this may be detrimental for many adhesives, it is crucial in adhesives meant to be temporarily applied to surfaces, as in protective sheets applied to new electronics. In doing so, adhesives can be more easily removed without leaving behind residue on screens. Solus™ 9142 has good compatibility in several types of adhesive systems, such as UV-cured acrylic adhesives, where it enhances thermal stability.
