Solus™ 8050 is a cellulose ester performance additive with relatively intermediate butyryl content and high viscosity used in a variety of applications.
Solus™ 8050 is a cellulose-based polymer manufactured by Eastman used as a performance additive to provide rheology modification, faster dry-to-touch times, weathering resistance, and block resistance in several applications. It is soluble in a variety of organic solvents and can help form strong films in coating applications with high hardness. Like many of Eastman’s cellulose esters, Solus™ 8050 will help improve flow and leveling of various formulations on substrates due to the degree of rheology control it provides. This can help reduce several visual defects such as cratering, orange peel, and pinholes. As a result, Solus™ 8050 helps improve the distinctness of image and gloss properties of formed films.
