Tyzor® TPT is a liquid form, 100% actives, tetra-isopropyl titanate. It is extremely moisture sensitive and decomposes when exposed to water. Tyzor® TPT is a metal catalyst used for the production of polyolefins and polycarbonate. It improves yield of olefin polymerization, esterification, condensation, and addition reactions while also eliminating unwanted by-products. Tyzor® TPT is useful as a replacement for tin, organostannanes, and sulfuric acid in esterification reactions when a reduction of toxicity is desired. In fact, Tyzor® TPT is more efficient than sulfuric acid in esterification reactions as well. Tyzor® TPT can be added to solvent borne paints to cross link hydroxyl and carboxyl functional polymers as well. In addition, it can be used to coat metal and glass surfaces with a thin polymeric film of titanium dioxide. This can promote adhesion, improve surface hardness, increase light reflection, and add coloring effects.
