Elvacite™ 4021 is a highly flexible, high elongation methacrylate copolymer that is ideally suited for use as a resin in ceramic cover coat applications.
Elvacite™ 4021 is a thermoplastic acrylic resin composed of methyl methacrylate and n- butyl methacrylate. It has a high molecular weight and is highly flexible. Elvacite™ 4021 is available as a solid bead that is soluble in ketones, aromatics, chlorinated hydrocarbons, esters, and glycol ethers. When dissolved it will produce a solution with a relatively high viscosity. Due to its physical properties, Elvacite™ 4021 is best suited for use in ceramic cover coat applications. The flexibility of this resin also makes it a good film former for plastic coatings, overprint varnishes, and heat seal lacquers. Elvacite™ 4021 produces films with exceptional flexibility, gloss, and abrasion resistance. Elvacite™ 4021 is non -reactive and can be added to reactive, UV, and EB cure systems to help control viscosity and prevent shrinkage upon cross link and cure.
