Methyl Methacrylate
Elvacite™ 4346 is a thermoplastic methacrylate polymer that is available as a solid bead.
it is soluble in many VOC exempt solvents.
The low molecular weight of Elvacite™ 4346 allows formulators to lower VOC content due to a lower viscosity at high solids content.
It is an ideal film forming resin for inks, coatings, and adhesives that require reduced VOC content.
Elvacite™ 4346 is often used in alkyd systems to improve the hardness of the cured film.
In addition, the inclusion of Elvacite™ 4346 improves the dispersion of inorganic pigments and allows for improved color strength and rub resistance.
Low color strength due to poor pigment wetting
Increasing restrictions on VOC content
Viscosity concerns associated with high solids coatings and inks
