KATHON™ LX 1.5% is an isothiazolinone-based preservative used to protect polymers, coatings, adhesives, and pigments. KATHON™ LX 1.5% is effective against bacteria and fungi at a low use rate, making it an excellent economical alternative to many other preservatives.
Industrial microbicides are a collection of in-can and dry-film preservatives appropriate for a wide variety of industrial applications. KATHON™ is a legacy brand for a line of isothiazolinone preservatives supplied globally by the largest chemical manufacturers and now manufactured by LANXESS.
KATHON™ LX 1.5% is an effective CMIT/MIT in-can preservative for aqueous systems with a pH below 8.5, extending the shelf life of a product in its wet state. The preservative is also highly compatible with other in-can and dry-film preservatives where fungal or mold protection is required.
KATHON™ LX 1.5% is EPA registered and recommended as a preservative for water-based latex paints, aqueous industrial coatings, polymer latices, and dispersed pigments. It also controls bacteria and fungi in kaolin clay, titanium dioxide, calcium carbonate, and others.
KATHON™ LX 1.5% offers broad-spectrum-activity antimicrobial protection, excellent physical and chemical compatibility, and low toxicity at recommended use levels. Its low dosage provides formulators with an economical, effective, and environmentally acceptable alternative to other commercial biocides.
