Elvacite® 4188 is methacrylate polymer that is specifically engineered to form films with improved adhesion to difficult metal substrates.
Elvacite® 4188 is a methacrylate copolymer that is designed to provide solvent based coatings, inks, and adhesives improved adhesion to metal surfaces. It is available as a solid bead that is soluble in ketones, aromatics, ester, glycol ethers, and hydrocarbons. Solutions of Elvacite® 4188 will form clear films with excellent resistance to abrasion, UV, and chemicals. Elvacite® 4188 is an ideal film former for automotive finishes, marine coatings, and container coatings. In addition it can be used to coat metallized films used in hot stamping applications. Elvacite® 4188 also shows good adhesion to rigid plastic substrates and can be used in coatings, inks, and adhesives, that need to adhere to PVC, ABS, and PS. Elvacite® 4188 is also used as a binder in coil coatings and pre-treatment for coil coatings. When used in coil coating applications, Elvacite® 4188 provides superior adhesion to metals like aluminum when compared to common polyester resins. This improved adhesion leads to coatings that are more durable and that can withstand exposure to harsh climates.
