Primary Chemistry:
Methyl Methacrylate
Elvacite™ 4412 is a methacrylate copolymer that contains hydroxyl functionality. This functionality allows it to be cross linked and cured using isocyanates and amines. Elvacite™ 4412 is available as a solid bead that is soluble in ketones, toluene, and esters. It has a low molecular weight and produces solution with a low viscosity at high solids. Because of this it is particularly useful in coating and adhesive formulations that require low VOC content. Solutions containing Elvacite™ 4412 form films that are extremely durable with an optimal balance of hardness and flexibility. Elvacite™ 4412 is an ideal binder for reducing VOCs in thermosetting formulations.
Increasing restriction on VOC content of solvent based coatings
Poor outdoor durability that causes yellowing and surface damage to coatings and inks
Reactive Adhesives; Architectural Coatings; Metal Coatings; Automotive Coatings; Aerospace Coatings
Elvacite™ hydroxyl- and amine-functionalized acrylic resins are ideal for two-component coating and adhesive systems, where they increase durability, adhesion, and visual quality. Learn more here.
