EPOLENE® N-21 Polymer
EPOLENE® N-21 is a low–molecular weight, medium-density polyethylene wax with a relatively high softening point and good hardness. It is used as a viscosity modifier in hot-melt adhesives and coatings, a lubricant for printing inks, and a dispersing aid for color concentrates.
EPOLENE® N-21 is a polyethylene wax with excellent resistance to solvents and oils. Relative to other EPOLENE® nonemulsifiable waxes, it has a higher density and a higher softening point. It is used in a variety of applications, including cable filling, printing inks, hot-melt adhesives, and heat seal coatings. EPOLENE® N-21 wax is typically blended with natural or synthetic waxes to improve physical properties, such as tensile strength, abrasion resistance, and adhesion.
The EPOLENE® N-21 wax is also an excellent pigment-dispersion aid. When used in printing inks, EPOLENE® N-21 also increases the lubricity of the ink and improves scuff and rub resistance because of the low coefficient of friction the wax provides. It can also be used to modify the viscosity of hot-melt adhesives to improve sag and run resistance. In cable filling and flooding applications, EPOLENE® N-21 wax improves slump resistance.
